How Theresa Passed the Praxis Math Exam on Her First Try: A Real-Life Success Story
This is the 2nd Praxis Success story in my series on how to pass the Praxis Math exam! You can read the first story here! Preparing for the Praxis Math Exam can feel overwhelming. Between balancing work, life, and study time, many teachers struggle to find the right resources and motivation. That’s why I’m so excited to share Theresa’s story with you—because hearing from someone who just passed the test can give you the encouragement you need to keep going.
In this Praxis Success Story interview, Theresa opens up about her journey, the strategies that worked for her, and what helped her pass the Praxis on her very first attempt.

Meet Theresa
Theresa is a teacher who, like so many others, felt nervous about taking the Praxis. She wanted to move forward in her teaching career, but first she had to tackle the certification test. Rather than trying to do it all alone, she joined my Praxis Math Group Tutoring class, leaned on resources that broke down the content, and found a community that understood what she was going through.
How She Studied for the Praxis
Theresa’s study approach wasn’t about cramming—it was about building confidence step by step. In our group sessions, she focused on:
-
Reviewing math content she hadn’t seen in years in a clear, structured way.
-
Practicing with real Praxis-style problems to get comfortable with the test format.
-
Asking questions and learning alongside other teachers in group tutoring.
-
Staying consistent, even when life got busy.
She reminded us that preparing for this exam doesn’t happen overnight—it’s about steady progress, encouragement, and practice.

Overcoming Challenges on Test Day
Every test taker has a moment where things don’t go as planned. For Theresa, it happened in the middle of her exam when her computer had to restart. 😳
Instead of panicking, she stayed calm. She used the same breathing and mindset strategies we practiced in tutoring, reset her focus, and kept moving forward. That calm confidence made all the difference.
And the best part? Theresa walked out of the testing center with a passing score—on her very first try. 🎉

Theresa’s Encouragement for You
One of the best parts of talking with Theresa was hearing how much she wants other teachers to believe in themselves. She wants anyone preparing for the Praxis to know:
👉 You’re not alone.
👉 Staying calm—even when things go wrong—matters.
👉 With the right resources and support, you can pass on the first try.
